About Our Company
Discover the story behind our wood, our craftsmanship, and the people who bring it to life.
The Story of Old Growth Lumber Co.
Old Growth Lumber Co. was created to give exceptional wood a second life.
Based in California’s Monterey County, we specialize in remarkable slabs, beams, dimensional lumber, and reclaimed or salvaged timber with character that cannot be manufactured.
Our inventory includes species such as giant sequoia, Douglas fir, cedar, oak, walnut, pine, and other distinctive woods, with availability changing as extraordinary material becomes available.
We work with homeowners, architects, designers, builders, furniture makers, artists, and craftspeople. Whether someone is looking for one special slab or needs help moving a complex project from raw timber to finished installation, our goal is to make the process approachable and rewarding.
Our capabilities include material selection, custom milling, slab flattening and surfacing, drying coordination, fabrication, finishing, delivery, installation, and custom woodworking.
More importantly, we understand that many of these pieces carry a history. We approach every log, slab, and beam with respect for the material and a desire to preserve its natural character.
Old Growth Lumber Co. is more than a lumberyard. It is a destination where people can discover extraordinary wood, learn its story, and turn it into something that can last for generations.
Our Mission
Preserve Roots. Create Heirlooms.
When a major wind event brought down these magnificent Giant Sequoias, we saw more than fallen trees—we saw an opportunity.
Working closely with a local tribe, we developed a way to responsibly repurpose these remarkable trees while creating meaningful economic value for the community connected to them. What began with loss became a partnership built around stewardship, craftsmanship, and giving back.
Today, our mission is to preserve the legacy of these Giant Sequoias by transforming them into exceptional products while supporting responsible forestry and sustainable practices. A portion of our work helps fund programs that give back to the reservations and communities where these trees originated.
We believe a fallen tree can still have a lasting purpose.
From forest to finished piece, we strive to honor every tree, respect where it came from, and ensure its story continues for generations to come.
"At Old Growth Lumber Co., we’re passionate about helping people find the right materials for the ideas they want to bring to life. Every project is different, and we take pride in offering the knowledge, care, and attention needed to make each one special."
